Safe Kids Greater Sacramento participated in International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 by hosting an event at Camellia Basic Elementary. Safe Kids Walk to School Day activities are sponsored by FedEx. FedEx employee volunteers attended the event to show off their trucks and hand out reflective bracelets to students. Safe Kids coalition volunteers from the Sacramento Police Department, California Highway Patrol and WALKSacramento joined in the fun. Camellia Basic has a great tradition of walking around their track for “Walking Wednesdays”. Parents and teachers join students in walking to get their bodies and brains ready for the school day. Safe Kids volunteers reminded students to “be safe and be seen” any time they walk in their community.
