Safe & Fun in the Sun!

As Sacramento Valley temperatures heat up, it’s time to brush up on summer safety. Have you reviewed each of these top tips with your family?

  1. Pool Safely – The ABC’s of Drowning Prevention tell us that Adult supervision of younger children, Barriers between the house and the pool, and CPR and swim Classes are important for pool safety. Designate a Water Watcher at every pool party!
  2. Grill Smart – Position the BBQ or grill away from the house and anything that can burn. Make a 3 foot “kid free safety zone” around the grill, and remind children not to play with matches and lighters. And enjoy your meal!
  3. Boat Responsibly – Children under 13 must wear life jackets on the water, and our rivers are so strong that adults should wear them too. A large portion of boating accidents each year involve alcohol consumption by both boat operators and passengers. Take notice of local alcohol and life jacket rules when you launch.

Grab some sunscreen and be safe out there!
