Road Safety Starts With Me

Pedestrians, Bicyclists, and Drivers, Oh My!

One of the ways that our community can care for each other is to watch out for our fellow road users. And we can teach kids to be safe on the road, in all modes of transportation. Have you ever gone for a walk and thought “those drivers should slow down”? Or have you driven through your neighborhood and thought “that jogger needs to watch where they are going”? At one time or another, most of us have been pedestrians, bicyclists, or drivers. If we take a moment to put ourselves in each other’s shoes, we can look out for one another on the road. And we can keep an eye out for especially vulnerable road users, such as children, older adults, or people with disabilities.

Printable Road Safety Bookmarks

Our partners at Civic Thread created a series of road safety bookmarks in English and Spanish, as part of our grant from the California Department of Public Health, Safe and Active Communities Branch, Kids’ Plates Program. They feature pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, and driver safety tips that are great for kids and adults. Click HERE for a pdf version of all three bookmarks in English and Spanish. Contact us for images formatted for social media with these same safety messages.
